News… Paper at Usenix Security’18 (May 2, 2018): Our paper, “Sensitive Information Tracking in Commodity IoT” was accepted for publication at the 2018 USENIX Security Symposium, Maryland, USA. Invited Talk at University of Notre Dame(October 5, 2017): Dr. Uluagac gave an invited talk at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana on securing devices and applications in the Internet of Things and Cyber-Physical Systems era. Grant from NSF(August 15, 2017): Dr. Uluagac and his colleagues have been awarded a grant for $500,000 from the National Science Foundation for their project entitled “Privacy-aware Wearable-Assisted Continuous Authentication Framework.” Paper at Usenix Security’17(June 8, 2017): Our paper, “6thsense: A context-aware sensor-based attack detector for smart devices” was accepted for the 26th USENIX Security Symposium, Vancouver, Canada.  The Cyber-Physical Systems Security Lab (CSL), headed by Professor Selcuk Uluagac, is located within the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Florida International University in Miami, Florida, USA. In CSL, we primarily work on research problems at the intersection of the cybersecurity and networking fields with an emphasis on their practical and applied aspects. We design, build and analyze novel real-world systems, algorithms, and tools. The ultimate goal of our efforts in the CSL is to make today’s and tomorrow’s digital infrastructure and our lives more secure against malicious activities.  Currently, the CSL conducts research activities in the following areas: Security of Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS), Internet of Things (IoT): e.g., fingerprinting, covert-channels, information leakage, Security of critical infrastructure networks (e.g., SCADA systems, smart-grid): e.g., analyzing critical infrastructure network traffic, Wireless and mobile devices security: e.g., wireless device fingerprinting, covert-channels Big data security: e.g., applying machine learning and big data analytics methods in security.
